Pacific

All-Inclusives

Easy win.

The quick take

Warm weather. Drinks included. Easy beach days.

If you're looking for an all-inclusive without worrying about the large sargassum blooms that can affect parts of the Caribbean, the Pacific coast deserves a closer look.

From Mexico to Costa Rica and Panama, you'll find great beaches, excellent resorts, warm Pacific sunsets, and plenty of opportunities to do absolutely nothing—or just enough.

And because it’s the Pacific coast—not the Caribbean—it has a low-to-no risk of the major sargassum invasions affecting destinations like Cancún and Tulum. Normal seaweed and changing ocean conditions can still happen, because nature refuses to sign guarantees.

Why we picked it

Pacific all-inclusives work best when you don't overcomplicate them.

  • Sleep in.

  • Find coffee.

  • Have lunch without locating your wallet.

  • Read three pages of a book.

  • Order something frozen.

  • Maybe head into town for dinner.

  • Maybe remain exactly where you are.

That's kind of the whole idea.

The vibe

Low stress. High sunshine.

Relaxed days, warm evenings, good food, and enough flexibility to make the trip your own.

Whether you spend the week reading beside the pool or exploring local markets between margaritas, the pace is entirely up to you.

Where you stay matters

Pacific Mexico

Choose Pacific Mexico when you want the classic all-inclusive experience.

Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit, Los Cabos, Huatulco, and Ixtapa all offer excellent resorts, beautiful beaches, and plenty to explore once you leave the property.

Second Shift take: perfect for travellers who want vacation mode to start the moment they land.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica is for people who like their pool days with a side of adventure.

Stay on the Pacific coast around Guanacaste and you'll find excellent all-inclusive resorts within easy reach of volcanoes, waterfalls, wildlife, catamaran cruises, and rainforest adventures.

Second Shift take: equal parts flip-flops and hiking shoes.

Panama

Panama flies under the radar—and that's part of the appeal.

The Pacific coast offers several excellent all-inclusive resorts, while nearby Panama City and the famous canal make easy day trips or pre-trip add-ons.

Second Shift take: ideal for travellers who like mixing beach time with a little culture and a genuinely interesting city.Nuevo Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit

Do the thing

Yes, enjoy the resort.

But leave it once or twice.

Take a boat.

Eat somewhere local. Leave room for the place somebody tells you about after your second beer.

Watch a sunset that isn't from your balcony.

The best all-inclusive trips usually include one or two memorable days outside the gates.

Take the water taxi to Ocean Grill

Do not miss Ocean Grill, tucked away at Playa Colomitos near Boca de Tomatlán.

You travel south from Puerto Vallarta to Boca, then catch the restaurant’s small water taxi to a remote, palapa-covered lunch spot perched over the ocean.

There are only three lunch seatings each day—11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.—and reservations are required.

It is cash-only because there is no internet.

Beautiful beach. Boat arrival. Grilled seafood. No Wi-Fi.

Basically, lunch with a minor sense of adventure.

And the place is ruled by a Great Dane named Wilson.

Obviously.

Wilson has rules, including no children under ten and absolutely no visiting dogs. Accessibility is also limited because of the remote location and terrain, so this is one to research properly before booking.

A few things worth knowing

One of the biggest advantages of Pacific destinations is that they generally avoid the large-scale sargassum events that can affect parts of Mexico's Caribbean coast.

That doesn't mean every beach is perfect every day—nature still gets a vote—but you're far less likely to spend your vacation checking seaweed reports.

Not all all-inclusives are created equal, either.

Some excel at food.

Some have spectacular beaches.

Some are adults-only hideaways.

Some are built for families.

Choosing the right resort often matters more than choosing the country.

That's where we come in.

Who is this for?

  • Couples.

  • Friends who need sunshine.

  • First-time all-inclusive travellers.

  • People who want vacation to feel genuinely easy.

  • Anyone who likes warm weather without scheduling every hour.

Who should skip it?

Travellers looking for backpacking adventures.

People who hate resorts on principle.

Anyone who needs every day packed with sightseeing from dawn until dinner.

The Second Shift Take
