MONTREAL & QUEBEC CITY.
This is our “Europe, sort of” trip.
No overnight flight. No jet lag. No converting every damn price in your head.
Instead: Montréal neighbourhoods, late dinners, hidden bars, old signs, strange little histories and the kind of places you only find because somebody said, “Trust me, go through that door.”
Then we trade city energy for Québec City — cobblestones, old walls, tiny streets and enough European flavour to make us briefly forget we’re still in Canada.
The famous sights get a cameo.
The detours get the starring role.
WHAT WE’RE BUILDING
A proper Montréal food crawl.
Old neon, neighbourhood institutions, hidden rooms and places you’d probably walk straight past if you didn’t know better.
A little Sin City Montréal history — vice, scandal, questionable characters and stories that make the polished version of the city much more interesting.
One very good night out.
A train ride to Québec City that feels like part of the trip, not lost travel time.
Cobblestone wandering, old walls, dramatic views and a few very good reasons to take the long way back.
And at least one side quest that makes absolutely no sense until you’re standing there.
Then there’s the detour we’re not putting on the website.
You’ll get the details when you’re in.
Some stories are better that way.
THE VIBE
French-ish. Curious. Stylish. Slightly mischievous.
There’ll be nights worth dressing up for, long lunches, neighbourhood wandering and enough history to make the place interesting without turning the trip into homework.
We’ll build enough structure that the good stuff actually happens — without scheduling every damn minute.
Because Montréal works best when there’s still room to say:
“Wait. What’s down there?”
THE ROUGH RHYTHM
ARRIVE. FIND THE CITY.
Drop the bags, meet the crew and get straight into Montréal.
Old streets, good food, maybe something hidden behind an unmarked door.
FOLLOW THE DETOUR.
Neighbourhoods. Markets. Old neon. Strange history. Local institutions.
The Montréal that exists beyond the postcard.
ONE VERY GOOD NIGHT OUT.
A great dinner, something worth dressing up for and whatever happens after that earns its place in the story.
TAKE THE TRAIN TO FRANCE. SORT OF.
We head to Québec City.
Cobblestones, old walls, dramatic architecture and the closest we’re getting to Europe without crossing the Atlantic.
LEAVE SOME ROOM.
Sleep in. Wander. Shop. Eat something unnecessary. Chase your own side quest.
Not everyone has to do everything together.
That’s kind of the point.
WHAT WE'RE IMAGINING
This is still being shaped, and early crew members get a voice in what makes the final cut.
Possibilities include:
Montréal After Dark
Old neon, hidden bars, neighbourhood stories and the slightly scandalous side of a city that has never been particularly interested in behaving itself.
Eat Your Way Across Montréal
Bagels. Smoked meat. Tiny counters. Markets. Québécois classics. Something we definitely did not need but ordered anyway.
Secret Doors & Strange Places
Basement bars, tucked-away rooms, underground passages and places you’d probably walk straight past if you didn’t know better.
Old Montréal — But Not Just the Postcard Bits
Cobblestones and gorgeous buildings, yes. But also strange history, old signs, back lanes and whatever earns the detour.
Take the Train to Europe. Sort Of.
We trade Montréal’s energy for Québec City’s old walls, steep streets and centuries of stories.
Think fortified gates, Lower Town wandering, strange old history, a very good Québécois meal and at least one detour that gets us beyond the postcard version of the city.
If the timing works, we may even slip out to Île d’Orléans for a little countryside, local food and one more reason not to rush home.
Second Shift Detours
The neighbourhoods, stories, odd little stops and “we have two hours — should we?” ideas that tend to become the best part of the trip.
And yes — there may be one classified detour that stays off the public page entirely.
Nothing here is a locked day-by-day itinerary yet.
That’s intentional.
Join early and you get to help shape the adventure.
THIS TRIP IS PROBABLY FOR YOU IF…
Women who like:
Good food and questionable little side quests.
Old neighbourhoods and interesting stories.
Getting dressed up for dinner — then ending up somewhere completely unexpected afterwards.
Exploring on foot without turning the vacation into an endurance event.
And travelling with people who can change the plan when something better appears.
YOU MAY WANT TO SKIP THIS ONE IF…
You want a resort, pool chair and guaranteed hot weather.
You hate wandering, old buildings or trying food just because somebody said, “Trust me.”
You want every hour scheduled before you leave home.
Or you need the entire group to move together at all times.
We coordinate the core adventure. You still get to have your own vacation.
BRING YOUR BOOKING BUDDY — OR COME SOLO
Friends. Sisters. Cousins. Mothers and daughters. Work wives. Actual wives. Travel buddies.
We care considerably more about whether you add to the crew than what label goes on it.
Shared accommodations will help keep the trip affordable, with solo options priced separately where available.
And no, we’re not randomly assigning roommates.
We have standards.
WHAT WILL IT COST?
Estimated from $2,300 CAD per person
Based on double occupancy — including estimated flights from Calgary, hotels, the Montréal-to-Québec City train, a couple of shared detours, and some planned nonsense.
That gives you a realistic starting point for the core trip.
We’re looking at five days split between Montréal and Québec City, with central accommodations that make it easy to walk out the door and actually be in the middle of things.
Final pricing will depend on the exact spring dates, hotel choices, flights and which shared experiences the crew decides deserve a place in the finished adventure.
We’re keeping the timing flexible between April and May 2027 so we can find the best balance of spring weather, pricing and flights.
We’ll spell everything out before anybody commits.
No mystery math.
The mystery portion is reserved for whichever basement, alley or unmarked door we tell you to walk through later.
WHY GO WITH SECOND SHIFT?
Because you could absolutely book Montréal and Québec City yourself.
That’s not the hard part.
The fun part is finding the version with better stories.
We’re building around food, neighbourhoods, old city streets, strange history, hidden rooms and the kinds of places that don’t usually show up in the first ten search results.
We’ll coordinate the shared pieces, move the crew between cities, and leave enough room for somebody to say:
“Wait. What’s down there?”
You get the fun of travelling with a crew without becoming its unpaid tour manager.
INTERESTED?
This is the “put me on the Europe-sort-of radar” stage.
No booking.
No payment.
No accidental commitment to five days of synchronized group activity.
Tell us who’s interested, who your booking buddy might be, where you’d be travelling from and anything we should know as we shape the trip.
Join early and help decide which detours make the cut.
Once we know you’re seriously considering it, we’ll walk you through the dates, pricing and trip details personally before you decide whether you’re in.
